Which fruit comes next?
Fruit patterns is a free pattern game for children aged 4–6. A shelf shows a row of fruit and one empty space. Children look for the group that repeats, then choose the fruit that belongs next.
Apple, pear, apple, pear, …
An apple comes next. The repeating part is “apple, pear”. Say the pair out loud twice and listen for what starts the next pair.
How to play
Read the shelf from the left.
Point to each fruit as you say its name. Use Hear pattern to listen to the whole row.
Find the repeating part.
On later shelves, the repeating group can include the same fruit twice, such as plum, plum, orange.
Fill the empty space.
Choose one of the three fruits. If it doesn’t fit, the same shelf stays in place so you can try another choice.
Does the game have a timer?
There is no timer. A round ends when the child chooses the next fruit. Each set has three shelves, and the receipt lists the fruit that came next on each shelf.
